In sixth grade reading with Mrs. Palasciano the students have been reading the book Wonder. This is the story about a boy born with a facial deformity who had been entirely homeschooled until he entered middle school. The plot follows the boy and the adversities he faces.
The students are currently participating in a Wonder competition, and a portion of this competition was to create a precept, or words to live by. Enjoy some of the creations that the students made below!

Given that our class consists of twelve students, we have already had a great deal of time to enjoy the beginning of the school year by bonding with one another!
We've completed #Selfies and Apps that represent our lives, are working to create our unique Bug, have played Two Truths and Lie which revealed some interesting facts about one another and Would You Rather which produced some lively and engaging discussions. Most impressive was the discussion over whether one would rather end world hunger or end wars. Students included arguments such as: ending world hunger would enable people to better contribute to our societies, and ending wars would prevent the destruction of towns and the immigration of people, which in turn would reduce the amount of people starving. We've also begun our morning routine of responding to the morning message in order to promote a positive classroom environment. Pictures of this can be seen below! |
